The Forest Guards hiked up to the recent Mammoth Bar Fire near Auburn, California.

Andrew, Drew and me survey the burn area.

We hiked up a ridge, past burnt pines and oak trees and lots of deep ash on the ground.

The damage the fire left behind killing most of the landscape and all that lives there.
Coach Heidi said that the burnt landscape looked very surreal.

I told the team about my personal experience with this fire and was amazed at how fast and far the fire spread. I am happy & feel lucky that the fire crews were able to put it out fast.
(After visiting the Mammoth Burn site, the team drove up to the site of the 2001 Emigrant Gap Fire. This fire was the result of human activity, and although it was contained within four days, it burned about 2,500 acres in total.)

I was happy to see that though fire can destroy quickly,  nature will grow back even if it takes a few years- This gives me confirmation of how important Forest Guard is for our world to help detect a wild fire fast to save what nature is out there.
